This morning my dog Purl and I went for a run before the sun came up. As the sun came out and we neared the big field that signals the near end of our 10k run a swarm, or rather, a "murder" of crows swooped down above and landed in a little tufts of trees at the edge of the wood. Cawing and inquisitive and seemingly engaging us...my heart sped up a little. There is something riveting, mysterious about crows. It's as though they know something that I don't, and perhaps should...
Perhaps with their love of shiny baubles we can strike a barter...their secret knowledge in exchange for a bauble or two of mine...seems like a fair trade to me.
What folklore say about the crow as a spirit animal:
"The crow is a spirit animal associated with life mysteries and magic. The power of this bird as totem and spirit guide is provide insight and means of supporting intentions. Sign of luck, it is also associated with the archetype of the trickster; be aware of deceiving appearances. If the crow has chosen you as your spirit or totem animal, it supports you in developing the power of sight, transformation, and connection with life’s magic. "
